On a different track...

As you might guess, I've had a million things that I needed to accomplish before I take off for this trip. One of them has been to design the posters for this season at Furman Theatre. Always a great experience.

Well, I submitted my poster for Translations by Brian Friel to the "Designer's Spotlight" area of iStockphoto (a stock photography service that has a vibrant graphic design community.)

It was accepted (an honour!) and is being received well. If you want to see it online you can go here. (For you nitpickers, the performance dates on the submitted poster are wrong, I just threw in the dates for An Evening With Ives to complete the composition.)

Oh, and here is small version of the poster.

Shameless self promotion, I know. But still exciting.

The Countdown Begins!

A week from today, I will be well on my way to the UK for Furman University's Study Abroad program. Of course, all that comes to mind are cliches like "I can't believe summer went by so fast" "I can't believe I'll be gone for 3 months!" "I can't believe how much money I saved on my car insurance!" ect. But, it is true. Time flies, and I'll be there before I know it. Scary.

Some of the plays I'll be seeing..

...while in London are:
  • The Alchemist
  • Tom and Viv
  • Moon for the Misbegotten (with Kevin Spacey)
  • Galileo
  • Caroline or Change
  • The Seafarer
  • Faust
  • Therese Raquin
You hate me. I know. hah.

Tell me where to go...

It may be early for this yet, but how about this:

Everyone has been suggesting places that I go visit while in the UK.
Why not leave a comment on this post with a suggestion of a cool place to go?
When I make it there, I'll blog about it.

Sounds fun to me. At least, right now. Maybe not later.

If you want to be even cooler, you can also go to my new Platial Map at here and post the real geographical location you think I should visit. But leave a comment too.

Tell me where to go!

How to subscribe...

If you wanted to keep with my travels, you could check here everyday (which is cool and awesome...) Or you could subscribe using feedblitz.

Just enter your e-mail address in the little form I've highlighted in this screenshot, hit subscribe me, and follow the instructions.

You must be sure to check your spam settings (Furman students, I'm looking at you...) and make sure that the feedblitz email address, feedblitz@mail.feedblitz.com, is on the "whitelist" or allowed list for your e-mail. So it won't be blocked.

Also, I'd check back here until your sure that your always being e-mailed when I update.

I'll be adding a few more subcription options later, so keep those eyes peeled. Maybe feedburner. maybe others.

Oh, and if feedblitz starts spamming you, tell me, and I'll quit using their service. I hate stuff like that. Don't worry though, I've used them on two other blogs and found the service to be excellent.

That's all.

Oh yeah, I got a new camera too.

"Freaking sweet" you might say.

I got a new Canon Powershot A540, especially for the trip. It has already been very nice to me and provided some great pictures.

I managed to take a picture of the camera with the camera by setting it for long exposure, whirling about and closing the shutter just as I pointed the camera at where it had just been. Really. It works. Try it yourself.

Don't worry, not all the posts will concern things I got for the trip. Some posts will be interesting. Remember, the trip hasn't started yet.

New Shoes!

I got new shoes to walk 'round in in London. Exciting, no?
I'll post an "after" picture, when I have walked many many miles all over and the shoes are old and nasty looking.

Hey Guys (and Girls).

Family, friends, hangers-on and Creepy Online Peeping Toms:

So, here's the deal. I hate (and I mean hate) really boring online journal junk about how nikki broke up with jimmy and is screwing around on timmy who is so good at Diablo 6 it blows my mind. But I love blogging technology. And I love my family, friends, and hangers on (not so much the Creepy Online Peeping Toms). And I want to keep up with all you great people while I'm abroad, and show you what I'm doing, and tell you all about it. And I don't want to harrass all you guys with e-mails you won't really read. So, my solution is this.

A blog.

Here's what I hope. I hope I can update fairly frequently with pictures of cool stuff I'm seeing, notes about what I'm doing, audio (may even video...) recordings of what's going on and more. I hope that it's more interesting, because I'll be in another country. I hope I have time to maintain it. If it turns out I don't, well that sucks. I'll tell you all about it when I get back. I'm gonna get the most I can out of this and that's that.

So, please send e-mails, hellos, comments on this blog, whatever you like. Some of you have my mailing address. Send me stuff if you want. No big deal. Hang out with me when I finally return :)

On the right is a little form you can put your e-mail address in if you want to get e-mailed whenever I update my blog. That'd be cool. Or just check in whenever.

That's all.
